SportsDirect has announced plans to revamp its store in Cavan, dispelling concerns about closure and job losses. However, BrandMax will no longer be part of the retail landscape in Cavan Town.
Speculation grew when a “closing down sale” sign appeared on the windows of BrandMax, located upstairs at SportsDirect in the Lakeland Retail Park. Assistant manager Ciara Crowe clarified that BrandMax would be closing down, and the technical side of SportsDirect would be relocated upstairs. This move would include items like football boots and outdoor equipment, resulting in the store becoming a dedicated sports shop once again.
Additionally, the revamp will lead to an expansion in branded clothing. Previously, the store did not carry a range of ladies’ branded clothing, but this will change with the renovations. The store will now offer a greater variety of branded clothing and sports attire. However, the home section of the store will no longer be available.
The closure of BrandMax and the subsequent changes to the store layout are expected to be completed within the next three weeks.
This decision by SportsDirect aims to optimize the product offerings and cater to the demands of its customers in Cavan. While the closure of BrandMax may be disappointing for some, the expansion of branded clothing and the continued focus on sports equipment will likely appeal to the store’s target demographic.
Overall, the revamp of the Cavan store indicates SportsDirect’s commitment to adapting to changing consumer preferences and remaining a prominent presence in the retail market.
