Despite the closure, some employees are having a hard time accepting the reality of the situation. Dejan, who had worked in environmental services at the hospital for many years, refuses to believe that it has closed.
St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones expressed her concern regarding the closure and the impact it will have on the community. She has been working to minimize the effects of the closure and held a meeting with the leadership of regional hospital systems to discuss the issue. Patients who were hospitalized at South City Hospital have been redirected to other hospitals.
