2 min read

The Annual Veterans Day Ceremony was held on November 11, 2019 at the Suring School Gymnasium. This event is held to honor our Veterans and those who have served. The event opened with the Parade of Colors with SGT Pendl, Wisconsin Army National Guard, escorting the Junior High Student Council.

The Pledge of Allegiance was explained in great detail by Ms. Carol Andrews. She did a remarkable job explaining each word in the Pledge of Allegiance and what it means. The National Anthem and Let Freedom Ring! was sung by the High School Concert Choir. The K-5 Choir was directed by Mrs. Kaci Hoverson-Boehmer and preformed 3 songs. Grand Old Flag, Eleven Eleven March, and Thank a Vet.

The guest speaker was SSG Michael Hull speaking on the Community. His speech included his journey through the Service and how he came to live in our community. He moved here due to the sense of community and togetherness we share. However, he does remain a Vikings fan and was not afraid to tell us!

The recognition of Veterans roll call was taken by Ms. Carol Andrews. This event was filled with people from our community and those who served were called individually to stand and receive recognition. Upon entering the school all Veterans were asked to sign in and received an entry into a drawing for homemade quilts. These quilts were donated by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 283. They were handed out by the National Honor Society.

After the event the 17th Annual Spaghetti Dinner was held at the Red Maple Golf Course. Dinner for Veterans was free and the cost for guests was only $7.00.

On February 7, 2020 the Girls Basketball Team is hosting a Salute to Area Service. They are honoring local Fire, Police, Rescue and other Emergency Responders.
