A Love So Great the Cross of Christ
2 min readA love so great the cross of Christ… that is a line from one of the songs in this year’s cantata. St. John’s Lutheran Church (aka “Clock Church”) is hosting its tenth Easter Cantata this year, with the theme being “The Cross of Christ”. Four performances are scheduled for the cantata-Tuesday April 23rd and Friday April 26th at 7pm, Sunday April 28th at 10:30am, and Wednesday May 1st at 7pm. Admission is Free, and a free will offering is taken at each show.
A total of twenty-six people from area churches are taking part in this cantata. Wayne Strei and Donny Svitak are directing the group, which has been rehearsing twice a week since February for the four performances. The cantata is approximately one hour long, and a dessert reception will take place in the fellowship hall after each performance. The cantata will also contain solos from three different people.
My son Mark and I joined the other singers for this Easter cantata and we participated in the cantata at Christmas. Mark wanted to continue singing in choirs after his graduation from high school last spring, and being a part of the cantata was a perfect fit. To be in this cantata has been gratifying for both me and my son, and it has been a great way to meet others that we may not have met otherwise. The songs you will hear at this cantata will be a great reminder of the true joy it is to follow Jesus and to feel the love He has for each and every one of us. I hope you will come out to experience that joy for yourselves!
