Azure Minerals Ltd (ASX:AZS, OTC:AZRMF) continues to make significant progress in its exploration efforts at the Andover Project located in Western Australia’s West Pilbara region. The project is a joint venture between Azure (60%) and Creasy Group (40%).
The Andover Project is known for its extensive pegmatite swarm, which covers an area of nine kilometers (east-west) and up to five kilometers (north-south). This swarm consists of numerous pegmatites, many of which have shown high lithium grades through surface sampling.
The company has completed a total of 55 diamond core holes, including 7 RC pre-collar/diamond core tails, and 86 RC holes, totaling 20,525 meters and 17,238 meters respectively.
Assays from recent drilling at target area 1 have provided promising results. The highest grade mineralization over 100 meters to date was intersected, with 104.7 meters grading 1.61% lithium oxide. This highlights the strong continuity of the mineralization. Other significant intersections include 132.3 meters at 1.25% lithium oxide, 101 meters at 1.22% lithium oxide, and 55.4 meters at 1.75% lithium oxide. These assay results have expanded the extensive lithium mineralization within the AP0011 pegmatite, both down-dip and along strike.
Additionally, drilling has commenced at target area 2, which includes the AP0015, AP0016, and AP0017 pegmatites. The first two drill holes at the AP0015 pegmatite intersected high-grade lithium mineralization, with 6.0 meters grading 1.99% lithium oxide and 6.4 meters at 1.16%. This indicates significant potential for the pegmatite to host valuable lithium mineralization.
Azure Minerals plans to begin drilling in target area 3 in the near future. The company has received all necessary approvals, and preparations for drilling are currently underway. Initial groundwork has identified the pegmatites in target area 3 as some of the most promising lithium targets at Andover.
These ongoing exploration efforts are crucial for Azure Minerals as it aims to grow and define the mineral resources in the Andover Project. The company’s focus on high-grade lithium mineralization has the potential to contribute to the growing demand for lithium used in various industries, particularly in the development of electric vehicles and renewable energy storage.
