Family’s Birthday Celebrations Ruined by Amazon Delivery Mishap

Robbie Edwards and his brother Ben both celebrate their birthdays on July 27, born on the same day three years apart. To mark the occasion, their family decided to go on a camping trip near Bridport. Robbie was turning 11, while Ben was turning 14. Their mother, Kerry, had carefully chosen presents for each of them – a drawing tablet for Ben and a Meta Quest VR Headset for Robbie.

Unfortunately, upon opening the amazon package at the campsite, Kerry was in for a big surprise. Instead of the VR Headset she had ordered, she found a box of cornflakes. Disappointed and with no other present for Robbie, the family was left in a difficult situation. Kerry drove to Chard to get a replacement from Argos, but her return to the campsite was abruptly cut short when she received a call informing her that Robbie had fallen off a swing and broken his arm.

Robbie’s birthday was spent in Dorset County Hospital without the special present he had been looking forward to. Kerry expressed her dissatisfaction with Amazon’s handling of the situation, stating that they insisted on her returning the box of cornflakes before issuing a refund. She questioned the logic of this request, as she couldn’t fathom what Amazon would do with a box of edible cornflakes.

An Amazon spokesperson responded to the incident, acknowledging that the customer’s experience did not meet their high standards. They apologized for the inconvenience caused and assured that a full refund had been issued. The spokesperson emphasized that customer satisfaction is their utmost priority and that they have systems in place to prevent such mishaps.

While the family’s camping trip was marred by the delivery mishap and Robbie’s unfortunate accident, they received a refund for the incorrect item. It remains to be seen whether Amazon will take further steps to address the incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
