Gillett Elementary School Principal Writes Letter to Tooth Fairy on Behalf of Student
2 min readOn October 9, 2019, Principal Curt Angeli of Gillett Elementary School sent a letter home with a student for the Tooth Fairy. In this letter he confirms the students tooth had been lost during recess and a valiant search effort had been made. Parents and other students were looking everywhere for the lost tooth, but they couldn’t find it. The student was worried the Tooth Fairy wouldn’t know he had lost his tooth, so Angeli told him he would go get him a note.
“As a trained principal and hobby dentist, I can verify that there is definitely a gap in [the student’s] teeth that was not there this morning when he came in,” wrote Principal Curt Angeli. “Please accept this letter as official verification of a lost tooth and provide the standard monetary exchange rate you normally use for a real tooth,” the letter continued.
This letter was shared to social media by a school employee and has now received over 1.1k shares. The story has also been covered by CNN and many other news stations. This letter brings back to the community a sense of innocence. Children grow up extremely too fast. It is refreshing to see someone in our community we trust with our children every day to help maintain that innocence. Principal Angeli also added in something a lot of us can relate to. “P.S. I am still waiting for the money for my wisdom teeth from 1987. Please remit as soon as possible.” wrote Principal Curt Angeli.
The student was proud to confirm the following day that the letter did in fact work and had received a dollar from the Tooth Fairy.
