Gillett Hosting Northeast Wisconsin’s Biggest Father’s Day Event

3 DAYS of Trucks, Fireworks, Parade, Live Music, Vendors, Food, Kids Activities and a whole lot MORE!!!

Friday, June 14

The weekend starts off Friday with music and cosmic bingo (by DJ Jake Rock of Jake Rock Entertainment) under the pavilion at Zippel Park in Gillett, Wisconsin. The Gillett Lions club will be serving a Friday Fish Fry (an Oconto County Fair Favorite), Homemade Spaghetti Dinner as well as other menu items. The night will finish off with a FIREWORKS display by the Boom-Boom Boys.


Saturday, June 15

Saturday is a full day of fun family activities, a parade, LIVE MUSIC and more! Numerous vendors will be hosted in the Oconto County Fair Expo Building in Zippel Park and there will be many activities for kids, including: Face Painting, Balloon Animals, Arts & Crafts, Water Fun with the Gillett Fire Department and a Bike Give-Away. Kids will also be invited to ‘Judge’ the trucks. Beer and other beverages will be served at the bar under the pavilion and your favorite ‘Fair Foods’ will be served by the Gillett Civics Club.

At dusk show entries will participate in a “Twilight Truck Parade” down Main Street followed by LIVE MUSIC from Outlaw Junkies and Bad Habitz.

Sunday, June 16 (Father’s Day)

Father’s Day will begin with a “Blessing of the Trucks” and be followed by a Pancake and Porkie Breakfast where DADS EAT FREE!

About Roy Hubbard

Roy Hubbard was born March 28, 1913 in Kelly Brook, Wisconsin. Roy spent his life in and around the Gillett area. He was a member of the Tabor Methodist Church where he would later marry June Lutz on May 7, 1938.


In the 1930s Roy founded ‘Roy Hubbard Rental Trucking Inc’ in Gillett, Wisconsin. After years of hard work growing the company by the transportation of various freight his company would became the sole transporter of all Gillett Canning Co. canned goods.

 

Sadly, after more than 45 years in the trucking business, Roy passed away at 74 on October 22, 1987 at a hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
