Lifelong farmer and Oconto County Board member Darrel Pagel, 72, passed away February 15, 2019 after suffering an aortic aneurysm
Darrel Pagel was appointed to the Oconto County Board in September of 2009 and went on to serve five two-year terms, representing around half of the town of Little Suamico. Most recently Darrel Pagel served on the Land Conservation Planning & Zoning/Solid Waste and MAR-OCO/Joint Solid Waste committees.
When the Oconto County Board met February 21, 2019 they held a moment of silence for Pagel. Municipalities inside the supervisor district will be asked to recommend a successor to fill the vacancy, with an appointment expected to be made at the County Board meeting in March or April.
Funeral and memorial services were held on February 22, 2019 in Abrams, Wisconsin.
