    Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Land Train in Ilfracombe

    A tragic incident occurred in Ilfracombe, North Devon, when a pedestrian was struck by a purple land train in the Hillsborough car park. The local man, aged in his 50s, was unfortunately trapped by the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been notified of the devastating news.

    The incident took place on Friday, September 15, at approximately 5.15pm. It was later discovered that the crash occurred outside the land train’s storage facility and not during its operational route. Consequently, the car park was closed to the public while local officers and road policing officers conducted a thorough investigation to gather evidence.

    A 61-year-old man from Ilfracombe was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the incident. However, he has been released on bail and is expected to return on Friday, November 3, pending further enquiries.
