Oconto County Trails Report - Updates on Recreation Sites (Aug 6, 2019)

As of August 6, 2019 all Oconto County trails remain CLOSED
According to Oconto County Tourism “No person shall drive an all-terrain vehicle on any lands, highway or trail under supervision, management or control of the Forest, Parks, and Recreation/Land Information Systems Sub-Committee during these closed periods.”
A member of the Sub-Committee told Gillett News “it may take weeks to assess the damage and even longer to clean them up.”
The Green Bay Press Gazette reported that Forestry, Parks & Recreation Director Monte Brink said ““The Nicolet State Trail is going to be our big hang-up… we’re looking for the DNR to clear that trail, which is pretty much blocked from Kingston Road north to Lakewood.”
Oconto County Recreational Sites
Here is the status of recreational sites in Oconto County as of July 26, 2019.
OPEN Sites: Ada Lake, Bass Lake, Boulder Lake, Boot Lake Beach and Boat Landing, Nicolet Trail Campground and Wheeler Lake Beach.
CLOSED Sites: Bagley Rapids Campground, Boot Lake Campground (Boat Landing and Beach Open) Cathedral Pines Trailhead, Chute Pond County Campground, Chute Pond Overlook Trail, Green Lake Recreation Area, Jones Spring Area Trail, Lakewood CC Ski Trailhead, Mountain Fire Lookout Tower, Oconto River Barrier Fee, Quartz Hill Trailhead and Popple Ridge Trailhead and Horse Camp.
