Yamaha has announced a change of ownership for Chongqing Jianshe Mechanical and Electric Co., Ltd., a current partner in the Yamaha motorcycle manufacturing joint venture in China. The equity interest of Zhuzhou Jianshe Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (ZJYM) will be transferred to ZHEJIANG CFMOTO POWER CO., LTD. (CFMOTO) in November 2023. The new business will be known as Zhuzhou CF Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (ZCYM) and will have approximately 500 employees.
CFMOTO will hold a 50 percent share in ZCYM, while Yamaha will have a 44.23 percent share, and Tair Yea Limited will hold the remaining 5.77 percent. Yamaha views China as a crucial sales and production base and intends to work closely with CFMOTO to enhance their competitive edge.
This partnership between Yamaha and CFMOTO not only solidifies CFMOTO’s position in the global motorcycle industry, but also strengthens their existing alliance with KTM. With CFMOTO establishing partnerships with two prominent motorcycle manufacturers, they are set to make significant strides in the market.
Collaborations like this bring about increased opportunities for both companies. CFMOTO can leverage Yamaha’s expertise and resources to improve their own product lineup and expand into new markets. Yamaha, on the other hand, benefits from CFMOTO’s presence in the Chinese market and their growing influence in the industry.
The joint venture enables both Yamaha and CFMOTO to tap into their respective strengths and create innovative motorcycles that cater to the needs of consumers worldwide. With Yamaha’s long-standing reputation for quality and CFMOTO’s commitment to delivering high-performance motorcycles, this partnership is poised to be a success.
This collaborative effort aligns with the broader goal of both companies to stay competitive in an evolving industry. By combining their resources and expertise, Yamaha and CFMOTO are well-positioned to navigate the challenges and seize the opportunities that lie ahead.
