    Woman Declared Brain Dead After Stabbing Rampage at Department Store

    A woman in her 60s who was declared brain dead following a stabbing rampage at a department store in Bundang, south of Seoul, has died, according to the police. The woman was pronounced dead at a hospital on Sunday.

    Last Thursday, the suspect, identified as Choi, drove a car onto a sidewalk outside the department store before launching a knife attack on shoppers inside. The department store is connected to the nearby Seohyeon Station, making it a popular spot for commuters and shoppers.

    The attack resulted in 14 people being wounded, with 12 of them sustaining serious injuries. Nine individuals were injured in the stabbing attack, while five were injured in the car crash. The suspect was quickly apprehended by the police, and a drug test conducted on him returned negative results.

    On Saturday, the Suwon District Court granted a warrant for the formal arrest of the 22-year-old suspect on charges of attempted murder due to the risk of flight.

    The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
