An Orlando-based commercial real estate executive and developer, Roger Soderstrom Jr., is taking a bold gamble on Sanford’s historic downtown district, aiming to transform it into the next Winter Garden with a series of redevelopment projects. Soderstrom, who works for Stirling International Real Estate, has not only acquired three underdeveloped properties in Sanford’s core but has also entitled and flipped additional vacant lots in the area.
Soderstrom revealed that he purchased the current redevelopment projects in May and April 2023, spending a combined total of $750,000. These projects require a significant capital investment of at least $600,000.
The developer’s vision for Sanford’s downtown district echoes the successful revitalization efforts seen in Winter Garden—a city known for transforming its downtown area into a vibrant and thriving community. Soderstrom aims to apply similar strategies to breathe new life into Sanford, attracting businesses, residents, and visitors alike.
By investing in these redevelopment projects, Soderstrom hopes to revitalize and transform Sanford’s historic downtown district by incorporating modern amenities while preserving its unique charm. The removal of vacant lots and the creation of new commercial spaces will stimulate economic growth and provide job opportunities for the local community.
Sanford has a rich history and is well-known for its historic sites, including the Sanford Museum and the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center. The city’s downtown district serves as a gateway to these attractions, making it a prime location for redevelopment.
Soderstrom’s initiatives are expected to bring about positive changes to Sanford’s downtown area, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal, attracting new businesses, and creating a vibrant community for residents and visitors to enjoy.
