Citroën India, the Indian subsidiary of French automaker Citroën, has recently introduced the all-new C3 Aircross compact SUV in the country. This new model has made waves in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment, as it now holds the title of the most affordable SUV in its class, with a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakh.
Currently, the C3 Aircross is only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, there are reports suggesting that an automatic variant could be launched by the end of the year. It is likely that Citroën will offer the same 6-speed automatic transmission that is available in the Indonesian market, where the C3 Aircross was launched a month ago.
The automatic variant will be equipped with a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, delivering a maximum power output of 110 bhp and torque figures of 190 Nm. In the Indonesian market, the automatic transmission model produces around 205 Nm of torque, so we can expect a similar upgrade for the Indian market.
Apart from its affordability, the C3 Aircross stands out in the mid-size SUV segment for its 5+2 seating layout. It is the only model in its class to offer this configuration, available in the mid-spec Plus and top-of-the-line Max variants.
In terms of design, the new Citroën C3 Aircross features the brand’s signature Y-shaped LED headlamps and a double grille, clearly displaying its Citroën heritage. It measures 4.3 meters in length, 1654 mm in height, and 1796 mm in width. Inside the cabin, drivers can enjoy a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as a 7-inch color TFT cluster screen to monitor various vehicle information and systems.
With its competitive pricing, unique seating layout, and attractive design, the Citroën C3 Aircross is poised to make a lasting impact in the Indian mid-size SUV market.
